Queer & Ally

Parent Support Group

Queer & Ally Parent Support Group is a program designed to bring LGBTQIA+ and Ally Parents together for social connection and support. The program aims to create a safe space where queer and ally parents can share stories, support each other, and build a strong community together.

  • Build Community Among Parents
Create a welcoming and consistent gathering where parents feel understood,

connected, and less isolated. Research and other groups show that connection and shared experience are central to effective support group outcomes.

  • Enhance Parental Confidence and Parenting Skills
Provide space for practical discussion of parenting challenges, coming-out

processes, gender-identity topics, navigating school or healthcare systems, and everyday issues in queer family life.

  • Provide Resource Awareness and Navigation
Share vetted local and national resources (education, mental health, legal,

healthcare, social services) to help families navigate both LGBTQ+-specific and general parenting challenges.

  • Affirm and Celebrate LGBTQ+ Identities in Families
Promote positive, strength-based narratives about queer families and the lived

experience of raising LGBTQ+ children. This includes normalizing diverse family structures and identities.

  • Support Emotional Well-Being
Offer a confidential setting where parents can process stress, acceptance journeys,

relational tensions, and the joys of parenting within and alongside LGBTQ+ identities.
